Day 1
So here is play by play of our new sidewalk. Me, daddy and Chad started it by pulling out what concrete we could.
Chad is such a good helper.
Then Grandpa Rawson came with his muscles, and as Trent puts it "He's a work horse that never stops!" They took out the rest of the concrete, and dug the dirt down a foot or so. They ended up moving around 12 tons of dirt and concrete. We did get Garrett (Trent's cousin) to come help for an hour at the end of the day which helped because they(Trent and grandpa) were so worn out, he also picked up the gravel compacter for us because the gravel truck was coming!
Chad and Brian watching dad and Grandpa and the cool gravel truck.
Day 2
Gravel in and compacted!
Concrete came and Grandpa couldn't help, he had work. So we convinced a guy in the ward (Bobby) who had done his sidewalk, that he really wanted to come and teach us how to finish ours.
Lucky for us he did! I did do my part in all this other than just take pictures. I couldn't move the next week to prove it!
Nice and floated. If you see the dip at the beginning that was from the neighbors toddler that the mother was not watching, who fell in face first into our sidewalk we had to re-float it but there was still a little dip.
Finishing touches.
All done, except that because our neighbor does not watch her children we took turns sitting on the porch and guarding our sidewalk to make sure it was ok after all the hard work everyone had done. We then sealed it, played on it, layed on it, and it's been WONDERFUL!!!! I'm surprised we haven't kissed it yet.
